Internet is one of the most important changes that have happened to the way peoples live. It comes in limelight and highly introduced in professional and general work in the last two decades. The internet is made up of billions upon billions of small computer or smartphone networks all brought together to form the vast “Inter-Network”. That word never caught on, so it was shortened to the much easier-to-say “Internet”. The Internet, simply called “the Net,” is a worldwide system of computer networks. In general an internet is a network of networks in which user at any one computer can (if they have permission) get information from any other computer (and sometimes talk directly to user at other computer).
Internet life conceived in 1969 by the U.S. government, in an American Military Research Agency called DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency). It was first named as ARPANet. The original aim was to create a network that would allow users of a research computer at one university to be able to “talk to” research computers at other universities. A side benefit of ARPANet’s design was that, because messages could be routed or rerouted in more than one direction, the network could continue to function even if parts of it were destroyed in the event of a military attack or other disaster. Its inventors could never have predetermined how internet would develop over time. At present Internet is one of the top most communications medium that spans the world, connecting billions of people in their everyday lives.
The Internet is a global system of interconnected computer networks that use the standard Internet Protocol Suite (TCP/IP) to serve billions of users worldwide. It is a ‘Network of Networks’ that consists of millions of private, public, academic, business, and government networks, of local to global scope, that are linked by a broad array of electronic, wireless and optical networking technologies.
A large part of the Internet is the ‘World Wide Web” (WWW). The Internet carries a vast range of information resources and services, such as the inter-linked hypertext documents of the WWW and the infrastructure to support electronic mail. The WWW is made up of web sites that have one or more web pages that contain information. WWW is the part of the Internet that users of internet probably use most of the time.
Services of Internet:
Although Internet probably uses www or web pages but it is not restricted over web pages only. It includes other services that make it highly acceptable in communication market, are as follows:
Instant messaging:
Instant Messaging (IM) is a type of online communication service that enables a user to create a real time private chat or text transmission to another individual user over the Internet. IM is analogous of a telephone conversation but it uses text communication rather than voice based communication. In present instant messaging upgraded with providing the functionality that help the user to add files (like: .doc, .pdf, .jpeg etc.), clickable hyperlinks and voice over IPs. A LAN messenger is one of the real-time examples of the Instant Messaging that works in similar way over local area network. For examples: Facebook chatting, Whatsapp chatting (with user’s individual) etc.

Chat rooms:
A Chat room is like a virtual room at where different individual users can take place chat session for communication. The primary goal of chat room is to share information via text-messages with a group of other members/ users. A chat room user can interact with several users or members of a group instead of one-to-one communication as in instant messaging. The users in a particular chat room are generally connected via a shared interest or other similar connection, and chat rooms exist catering for a wide range of subjects. The present technology has enabled the user of chat room of file sharing text, images or video (via webcam). For example: Whatsapp groups chatting etc.

Email:
E-mail is the short form of ‘Electronic mail’; it is like sending latter over the internet only. It is the first ever use of internet technology that helps in transmission of messages over communication networks. In simple words email is a method of exchanging of digital messages that are in ASCII text format from an author to list of people as well as individuals. However an author can also send non-text files, such as graphics images, sound files etc. A large percentage of total traffic over the Internet is e-mail. E-mail can also be exchanged between online service provider users and in networks other than the Internet, both public and private.

File transfers:
File transfer is sending of one or more digitized files from one location to another location over internet. File transfer is one another service of internet that enables a collection of electronically-stored files moved by physically moving the electronic storage medium, such as a computer diskette, hard disk, or compact disk from one place to another or by sending the files over a telecommunications medium. Over the internet use the file transfer is done via File Transfer Protocol (FTP). For example: File attachment with simple mail transfer.

Forums:
A forum is a place of an online discussion in group. Over internet website members can post discussions and read and respond to posts by other forum members. A forum can be focused on nearly any subject and a sense of an online community, or virtual community, tends to develop among forum members. Forums are sometimes called newsgroups (in the Internet world) or conferences. For examples: Twitter etc.
